simplify media
there’s a certain aspect of being a hipster that includes being a little bit geeky.
i wanted to include that little caveat before i introduce my new favorite app of all time. it’s called Simplify Media, and the above picture is a screenshot of it working on my iPhone right now.
what’s happening, is that i’ve installed Simplify Media on my computer, and on my iPhone (a $3.99 investment that’s well worth your change). once Simplify Media on your computer has scanned your iTunes library, you can access and stream your music from anywhere to your iPhone. a recent update also includes scrobbling to your Last.fm profile.
i’ve been saying they should have this since before i even had an iPhone, so the fact that it has become a reality, and at such a low cost, is amazing and i definitely recommend you go to the iTunes store right now and purchase the app before they find something illegal about it. it’s super easy to set up, and i’d explain more about it, but it’s much better if you try it yourself.
you can go pick up the iPhone app on the iTunes store, and the app for your computer here. they even have it for linux! the only thing i don’t like about this is the logo, but this app is so good that i can overlook that.

nylvi store open
i wrote about nylvi a while back, but when i posted about it, it was just a blog. but now, it has turned into a full-blown vinyl buying and selling market where you can find almost any record you’re looking for.
they’ve gotten bigger and bigger, and i even saw an ad on facebook the other day, but just remember, you heard about nylvi here first, folks.
check out the store, and buy a few records. for old time’s sake.

vuvuvu

if you haven’t heard of MSTRKRFT, good. because that’s what this blog is all about. i can’t remember if i’ve written about them before, but if not, you need to check them out because they’re one of the best DJ duos on the scene.
they started out as Death From Above 1979, but started spinning and have been traveling all over the world remixing artists like Justice, Usher, John Legend, Chromeo, Metric, and tons of other stuff.
i recently went out to their show in charlotte at The Forum which was a part of their “Fist of God” tour, to kick off their new album by the same name.
this is one of the songs from their new album, so if you’ve never heard MSTRKRFT you’re in for a tasty jam.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
VUVUVU – MSTRKRFT
if you can dig on dance music, and you’ve never heard of MSTRKRFT, this is going to be your new favorite artist. can’t say i didn’t warn you.
if you’re wondering why the song is called that, and if you’d like to read a little bit about MSTRKRFT, check out this interview on Pitchfork Media.

poladroid
poladroid is a neat little program that’s been spreading amongst my friends recently.
it’s so simple that you just drag whatever photos you want to convert into the program, and it spits out polaroids onto your desktop.
they’re not fully developed yet at this point, so you can shake them to hurry the process, or you can just watch it turn your photos into that trademarked discolored and blown out polaroid format.
it’s a lot of fun, and a decent replacement for the discontinued film.
you can download the program here.

New DPM Line
dance party massacre, who i wrote about some time ago, just released their newest line just after Halloween (sorry, being gone has got me behind on stuff) but i had to post about it anyway because it’s funky fresh.
i especially like this new shirt titled, Vampire Grill
check out the new line on their website.

D.A.N.C.E.
i posted about Justice a little while ago, if you remember. now that i can embed Vimeo in posts, i wanted to do it because the quality is so much better than YouTube, and i also wanted to share this video.
it’s a great song by Justice, and a cool effect. there’s a ref to Erol Alkan in there, if you can spot it, email or comment. you get 10 points.
