boombox
i love that a video like this; uploaded by one guy who uploaded only this video, can get over 30 thousand views because he put some time and effort into it and made some legit content on the internet.
it’s tons of fun and it’s got awesome style. it makes me want to go out and dance to my own jams.

monster alphabet
these letters were designed in the theme of monsters to help the designer’s son learn his alphabet. he used Helvetica, a simple typeface, but it serves to connect all these completely different monsters to make them look like they’re in the same family. (font family, if you will)
i like the colour and style of the design. go check out the set on flickr, and check out the designer’s other work too. it looks like he does a lot of illustration work.

patrick o’brien threadless benefit

the kids over at threadless emailed me to tell me about a brand new line that just came out as a fundraiser for Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). it’s promoted by director Patrick O’Brien who was recently diagnosed with ALS. O’Brien has spent his career attempting to capture the human emotion in its purest form. now that he’s been diagnosed with ALS, his new project is a film documenting his own life and the hardships of Lou Gehrig’s disease shot completely in 35mm film. he will film his life up until the end to raise awareness and funds for research of ALS.
O’Brien notes, “All of my adult life, I have been making films – films about unconventional characters, stories about vulnerable souls. Now, in the last years of my life, the film I am making, the character I tried so hard to write all these years, the story which eluded me on paper, is unfolding across my body, inside my nervous system, and in front of my eyes. I have become the character in the film which I have been striving to bring to the screen all these years.”
Patrick released a line of tshirts at threadless to raise money and awareness for his new project and for ALS in general. i can dig ‘em… so i encourage you to go check the stuff out on threadless… and then head over to Patrick O’Brien’s website to learn about him and Lou Gehrig’s disease, and view the trailer for his project, Patrick the Movie.

dance party massacre spring line
alex from dance party massacre emailed me to let me know that his new line of tees and sweatshirts are available from his website. he’s got a couple of really solid designs, but the one i like most is this glow-in-the-dark shirt with a spooky theme. i’m really digging the whole line. go check out the new stuff at the online store.
he also shot a little promo video for DPM with his friends. there’s a really DIY feel to it, and it’s got crazy good style.
i love dance party massacre because i can feel like it’s halloween all year round. and there are two things i love: tricks. and treats.
enjoy the video, and go take a look at the new stuff. it’s like candy that you can wear.
