Book Staircase

I saw this over at Fubiz, and I’m still trying to figure out which I’m more in love with; the design of this staircase, or the idea of having this many books on display. There’s not a whole lot more I can say about this other than, go check out the other photos, and also that I will definitely be installing one of these bad boys in my future dream home… given that I can build up my book collection enough for it to look impressive.
I’d better get started.

ACL Shop

Michael over at A Continuous Lean just opened up his much anticipated online store full of great collaborations with designers like Billykirk, Cole, Rood & Haan, Co. and Mark McNairy. If you’ve enjoyed Michael’s blog in the past, the store is a perfect continuation of that great nostalgic Americana that is so prevalent on A Continuous Lean. All the pieces are rugged, but well designed, and they all have that 1960’s Norman Rockwell feel to them. The selection isn’t all that extensive yet, but stay tuned, because it sounds like there are some great things planned.
You can go check out the store here, and the blog here.

Heaven Can Wait
I guess this doesn’t really reflect my commitment to “stuff that nobody’s ever heard of” but it’s too good not to share.
At first I thought it was just weirdness for the sake of weirdness, but I found out that each scene of the video is actually an image from ffffound or some other site like that.
The song is by Charlotte Gainsbourg (who actually did the french dub of KW in Where The Wild Things Are) and Beck. The video was directed by Keith Schofield. Does anyone else think that Charlotte Gainsbourg bears striking resemblance to Leslie Feist?

Threadless + Griffin iPhone Cases

It seems like everyone has an iPhone these days, and there are so many cases out there for distinguishing yourself from the masses. I’ve tried almost all of them, trying to find one that I actually like, with no success, until now. Threadless teamed up with the great people of Griffin Technologies to bring us these two really great iPhone cases. They’re taken straight from two artist-submitted tshirt designs on Threadless, and they’re both so good that it was hard to choose one, but I ended up ordering the lightning bolt case last week.
It came in the mail this past weekend, I’ve been testing it out since then, and I’m loving it so far. It’s beautiful and well designed, it’s very light and slim, but still offers protection from scratches. I’ve had cases that are so bulky that they make it impossible to get the phone out of my tighter pockets, but this case is so sleek you can barely tell it’s even there. On top of that, these were just released by Threadless, who isn’t exactly huge outside of young adult circles, so it’s not like you’re going to see tons of people with these cases. Finally a cure for the monotony.
You can order yours here for only $34.99. It’s said that Threadless will be releasing more cases in the future based on other tshirt designs in their inventory.
Also: check out this video about the thought process behind the cases and their designs.

Rifle Paper Co.

Anna Bond just opened up the online shop for her Rifle Paper Company, based out of Winter Park, FL.
I posted about Anna back when her last name was Melcon, and back then, she had some great illustrative work for bands and such. Now she’s expanded her work to a whole line of paper goods such as stationery, greeting cards, invitations, thank-you notes, and prints for you to buy. Her style has a really vintage “Olivetti Typewriter/Vespa Scooter” feel to it, and I really dig it.
Go check out her brand new store, and stock up on greeting cards for the holidays.

We Have A Winner!

It was a very hard decision to make, and I have a new respect for the effort that Walker Lamond put into compiling the book, but we finally have a ‘Rules for my Unborn Son Giveaway’ winner. My favorite rule was submitted by Sean Currie:
Do what you love and the money will follow.
It’s short, simple, and it’s something I’ve lived by so far. It’s like they say, find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.
Congrats to Sean, but as well, thanks to everybody else who submitted rules. And thanks to everybody for reading!

Cousins
This is the great new video for the great new song by Vampire Weekend called Cousins.
Given my clientele, you’ve probably already seen it, but just be safe…
