Parliament Design Headquarters

These are some absolutely delicious of Portland-based design studio, Parliament Design. Every desk was made from reclaimed fir from an early century church and the walls are made from wood from a 1904 barn. The entire inside is impeccably designed, and would make any designer drool to work in an environment like that.

Merchant House by Søren Rose Studio

I love these images I found over on WeHeart of Søren Rose Studio’s renovated 1770 Danish House. It has a good mixed of subdued tones combined with one or two bold elements that really stand out against the monotone backgrounds. It also has a great mix of modern and classic furniture which make it a place where work wouldn’t really seem like work at all. I think the bookshelf is my favorite piece.

Hotel Fox

Hotel Fox in Copenhagen invited a whole bunch of artists to take 61 of their rooms and transform them into works of art, and the result is absolutely beautiful. Each space seems to have just the right amount of artistic touch, minimalist and clean, but still very unique and interesting. I seem to be very attracted to a balance between minimalism and maximalism because it seems to be a theme in the last few interior design posts I’ve done, but this is a great example of it.

Beijing Noodle No. 9

I couldn’t help but posting this beautiful image from WeHeart of the new chinese restaurant in Caesar’s Palace called Beijing Noodle No. 9. The whole thing has this same light tones and almost desaturated hues. What I think is truly remarkable about the design of the place is the way it looks so minimalist while still utilizing an almost over-the-top amount of lush and hyper-ornate patterns. It was designed by the japanese design studio, Design Spirits, Co. LTD. I have a feeling that this is a very polarizing interior design job, but I’m completely in love with the photography, whether or not it would actually be practical to eat while being surrounded by it.

Tree Trunk House

This is a really cool tree trunk fort in Hilversum, Netherlands. It was designed by Piet Hein Eek, who I’ve never heard of, but apparently they do some really cool stuff. The little garden house is covered in lengths and ends of trees to make it look like a solid stack of logs, but inside is this really cool little workspace, which apparently this hip old dude has utilized as his beat lab.

Underground Swiss Home

This is one of the most organic, simple and pleasing underground designs I’ve seen in a long time. The house is carved right into the swiss countryside with a spectacular view of the Alps. Even the details in the mouth of the opening and inside the house are a perfect synthesis of organic material and beautiful minimalist swiss design.

Eiffel Tower Blueprints

The Eiffel Tower website (stuff nobody knows ever heard of) just uploaded a set of reproductions of the original blueprints for the Eiffel Tower, and they’re nothing less than works of art.
