Howies

Howies is a clothing brand for active Gen Y’ers, and they’re primarily geared toward bicyclists. I first heard about them when I saw the preview set of photos through FormFiftyFive. Jonathan Cherry posted these photos from the upcoming Howies catalogue, which led me to take a look, which in turn led me to the Howies website. It looks like they’ve got some great stuff over there, but I also like the photoset on flickr.

Bertelli Biciclette Assemblate
Bertelli Biciclette Assemblate is a one man bicycle shop based out of New York City. All the bikes are built using parts from flea markets, old bike shops, collectors, and a few parts from suppliers, and they’re handmade by a guy named Franscesco. There’s not a whole lot more you need to know, but these bikes look great because he uses leather and wood and chrome to build them, all vintage parts and quality materials. The result is absolutely beautiful, and what’s even better is that no two bikes look the same.
You can have your very own Bertelli bicycle for only 1500USD… but if you can’t afford that kind of expenditure, it’s almost as much fun to look at the pictures on the website.

Let’s Get Mystical
And here’s one from Mutiny Bikes. The DVD & BluRay come out in September. It was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II. I would like the camera, but I will settle for the DVD.

Caleb Quanbeck
The Shadow Conspiracy just released a video of their newest rider, Caleb Quanbeck. He’s got really simple and clean style, the kind that makes it look easy, so this video is tons of fun to watch. Definitely way better than the X Games. Whenever I see videos like this, it reminds me of when my roommate in college and I used to go out and ride/skate the campus spots. Those were good times.
The music is We Are the People by Empire of the Sun, a band I’ve been digging this summer.

Monocle Bike Frame
I don’t know where this came from originally, or if it’s real or whatever, but this frame looks really nice.

Urban Outfitters Bike Shop
What’s more hipster than a fixie?
For those of you who don’t already know, Urban Outfitters has teamed up with Republic Bikes and is now offering custom fixed-gear bicycles from their online store. You can customize the colors of the rims, pedals, handlebars, seat, cranks and frame. They’re the most affordable bikes I’ve seen around, and though I can’t speak to the quality, I do guarantee that you’ll look ballin’ riding around town on one of these.
Check out the online shop to build your own!
