Three Potato Four

Three Potato Four is an online shop run by husband/wife with backgrounds in graphic design and who both love to collect things. It’s a collection of home decor, posters, accessories and a wide range of sundry vintage items. Three Potato Four is basically the flea market equivalent of a gold mine where all the mining, refining and any trace of hard work is already done for you. Every piece has an absolutely beautiful vintage Americana flavor… which I’m a huge fan of. Plus, it’s all pretty affordable if you take into account how valuable it is to take the time to find pieces like this.
I strongly encourage you to go check out Three Potato Four… you’ll be able to easily find something good no matter what you’re looking to spend.

I Make My Case

I just got an email about this new site that will be open to the public tomorrow. It’s called “I Make My Case” by Case-Mate and they’ve gotten internationally renowned artists such as Joshua Davis, Deanne Cheuk, Thomas Hooper, Matt Moore, Hannah Stouffer, Ray Frenden, Anthony Yankovic, Nigel Dennis, Shadow Chen and Chuck Anderson to design a bunch of really great cases. They each have a couple of versions available… but here’s the really cool part:
You also have the ability to use common graphic elements from your favorite artist’s work to remix your own custom case using an easy and powerful WYSIWYG flash editor online. You can then print and purchase your design. This is easily the coolest thing I’ve seen all year.
I’m always looking for a great iPhone case… I already know I love the actual feel and design of this case, and the fact that I can customize my own by using design elements from great artists just makes this a trifecta of great ideas and I’m very excited to be able to tell you about it.
The site opens for public business on January 6.
Go check it out… it’s worth the time.

Terrain

I’m sharing this website for the benefit of two specific kinds of people: ladies between the ages of 18 and 30, and men who are looking for christmas presents for ladies between the ages of 18 and 30. I am currently a member of the latter group, and it was a revelation to find this site: Terrain.
It’s full of really great stuff for your home, garden, and gifts for your girlfriend or sister… all modestly priced too. Just in the nick of time for christmas, but I’m sure it will come in handy all year round (wedding gifts?)
Go check out the site. I dare you to leave empty-handed. I recommend this fir-scented candle.

Google Wave

I have 8 Google Wave invites. For a while I thought it was cheap and class-less to give invites away on a blog, but at this point, I don’t care.
So rather than explain to you what Google Wave is (I’m not sure that I could), I’m going to ask you to tell me what you think it is, or what you think it should be. Be creative or ridiculous… the first eight get invites.
This is less about getting cheap traffic, and more of a thank you to you crazy kids for coming back again and again. Still, I feel like I need to take a shower…

ACL Shop

Michael over at A Continuous Lean just opened up his much anticipated online store full of great collaborations with designers like Billykirk, Cole, Rood & Haan, Co. and Mark McNairy. If you’ve enjoyed Michael’s blog in the past, the store is a perfect continuation of that great nostalgic Americana that is so prevalent on A Continuous Lean. All the pieces are rugged, but well designed, and they all have that 1960’s Norman Rockwell feel to them. The selection isn’t all that extensive yet, but stay tuned, because it sounds like there are some great things planned.
You can go check out the store here, and the blog here.

Twitter HQ

You always hear about these really cool, hip companies and their really cool, hip workspaces (i.e. Google, Facebook, Apple) but here’s a new one. Twitter just moved their HQ into the SoMa district of San Francisco, and it’s aces. Apparently the founder of Twitter, Ev Williams and his wife Sara, had huge influence over the design, which doesn’t surprise me because the inside of the space perfectly reflects the stripped down minimalist nature of the site itself. They’ve even got a DJ booth for some reason. Why not, I guess? If anything. these photos make me think that exciting new things are to come.
You can check out the rest of the photos on Flickr.

Put This On

Put This On is a web series about ‘dressing like a grown-up’, produced by Jesse Thorn (of The Sound of Young America) and Adam Lisagor (of You Look Nice Today). What I like about this is that while other blogs like The Sartorialist highlight great style, this blog shows you how to achieve it, without necessarily breaking the bank.
I’ve always been a fan of that nostalgic Americana, and like the blog ‘1001 Rules‘, Put This On is centered around the idea that you can have a Y chromosome and still put thought and care into your wardrobe.
