Three Potato Four

Three Potato Four is an online shop run by husband/wife with backgrounds in graphic design and who both love to collect things. It’s a collection of home decor, posters, accessories and a wide range of sundry vintage items. Three Potato Four is basically the flea market equivalent of a gold mine where all the mining, refining and any trace of hard work is already done for you. Every piece has an absolutely beautiful vintage Americana flavor… which I’m a huge fan of. Plus, it’s all pretty affordable if you take into account how valuable it is to take the time to find pieces like this.
I strongly encourage you to go check out Three Potato Four… you’ll be able to easily find something good no matter what you’re looking to spend.

Sushi Etiquette

I love this helpful and great-looking little illustration on the proper technique for sushi eating.
For those who didn’t know, consider yourself educated. For those who frequent the local sushi bar, it never hurts to brush up.

RETHINK

While everyone is descending upon Copenhagen for the two week United Nations COP15 climate change conference, the Alexandra Institute is opening an art exhibit in three of the area’s best exhibition houses. It features 26 artists displaying their environmentally-themed work.
It remains to be seen if anything positive will come of the conference, but whether it does or not, this is some great art.
Go check out the website for more info and photos.

Apolis Activism Philanthropist Briefcase

I saw that Bobby posted this over on Kitsune Noir, and I like it so much that I wanted to make sure you kids got a chance to see it. This beautiful and practical bag was designed by Filson for Apolis Activism in cooperation with Invisible Children, which is a great organization, in order to benefit farmers in Northern Uganda who grew the cotton from which this bag is made. According to Bobby, this is a limited edition, with only 400 made. Apolis Activism is buying cotton from local farmers to make these bags, so not only is this a well designed bag with superb attention to detail and classic style, it’s helping the local farming communities of Northern Uganda.
Go get yours if you’re feeling philanthropic.

Black Rain
“Working with STEREO scientists, Semiconductor collected all the HI image data to date, revealing the journey of the satellites from their initial orientation, to their current tracing of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. Solar wind, CME’s, passing planets and comets orbiting the sun can be seen as background stars and the milky way pass by.”

patrick o’brien threadless benefit

the kids over at threadless emailed me to tell me about a brand new line that just came out as a fundraiser for Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). it’s promoted by director Patrick O’Brien who was recently diagnosed with ALS. O’Brien has spent his career attempting to capture the human emotion in its purest form. now that he’s been diagnosed with ALS, his new project is a film documenting his own life and the hardships of Lou Gehrig’s disease shot completely in 35mm film. he will film his life up until the end to raise awareness and funds for research of ALS.
O’Brien notes, “All of my adult life, I have been making films – films about unconventional characters, stories about vulnerable souls. Now, in the last years of my life, the film I am making, the character I tried so hard to write all these years, the story which eluded me on paper, is unfolding across my body, inside my nervous system, and in front of my eyes. I have become the character in the film which I have been striving to bring to the screen all these years.”
Patrick released a line of tshirts at threadless to raise money and awareness for his new project and for ALS in general. i can dig ‘em… so i encourage you to go check the stuff out on threadless… and then head over to Patrick O’Brien’s website to learn about him and Lou Gehrig’s disease, and view the trailer for his project, Patrick the Movie.
